Andrew Killawee was born
and raised in Halifax, and has been a visible presence in local music for
more than a decade. He studied piano performance and conducting at
Dalhousie University and was organ scholar, sub-organist and choral
scholar at the University of King's College Chapel in Halifax under the
supervision of Dr. Walter Kemp. Since then, Andrew has been summer
organist at Wyndholme Christian Church, Dartmouth; tenor section leader at
St. George's Anglican Church, Halifax; and music director at Birch Cove
Baptist Church, Halifax.
Now at St. Paul's since the summer
of 2003, he remains active outside of the church, having sung with
acclaimed local choral ensembles such as Incantatus, the Bedford Community
Singers and the Halifax Camerata Singers.
Andrew is also active outside of
church music as well. For more than 3 years, he performed and toured with
the Juno and ECMA award winning Johnny Favourite Swing Orchestra. He has
also performed with the Chester Brass Band and Nova Scotia Youth Wind
Ensemble.
In his spare time, Andrew works for
Arcadia Entertainment, a local television production company. |
